Alison Clayton is a consultant psychiatrist and specialist psychotherapist in private practice in Melbourne.

She has over 25 years of clinical experience.

Dr Clayton is also currently undertaking PhD research at the University of Melbourne’s School of History and Philosophy of Science. Her topic is on the history of twentieth century psychiatry.

In recent years Dr Clayton’s clinical experiences and academic interests have collided.

This has led her to researching the literature on youth with gender dysphoria and the gender affirmative treatment approach.

She has published several papers in the peer reviewed professional literature on this topic.
