FDRP supervision – Can you assist?

Zoe Durand Interviews

We have a number of members who are seeking supervision to complete training looking for a currently registered Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner (FDRP) accredited by the Attorney-General’s Department to assist with the supervised practice element of training. They need to complete twenty (20) hours of supervision, which can be conducted face-to-face or online (e.g., via Zoom, Teams).

The supervised practice will involve all aspects of working with a family for Family Dispute Resolution (FDR), including:

  1. Preparatory administrative tasks in accordance with the relevant FDRP obligations.
  2. Initial contact with each party (intakes).
  3. Assessment for suitability.
  4. Pre-mediation sessions.
  5. FDR mediation session(s).
  6. Any follow-up processes or tasks, as appropriate.

Supervision might include

  • Co-facilitation with the FDRP.
  • Solo-facilitation with the FDRP present.
  • A Combination of both methods.

Further information regarding the requirements for the supervisor, including their responsibilities and the reports required for FDRP course, can be provided upon request.
