Webinar – Turning Point – Sharyn Green-Arndt

Webinar Recap

Turning Point Online Parenting Support

A new approach to supporting separated parents through conflict, communication and change.

On 1 July 2026, Pacifica Congress was pleased to welcome members and colleagues to our recent webinar introducing Turning Point, presented by Sharyn Green-Arndt, Founder and Director of the Co-Parenting Institute.

We also extend our sincere thanks to OurFamilyWizard, and in particular Erin Green, Professional Liaison, for hosting the webinar and supporting another valuable professional development opportunity for the family law community.

Drawing on more than three decades of experience with separated families involved in high-conflict family law matters, Sharyn introduced Turning Point as a structured online psycho-educational program developed to support parents experiencing ongoing conflict following separation.

Who it is for

Designed primarily for parents involved in complex or litigated parenting disputes, the program seeks to reduce conflict surrounding children, strengthen communication and boundaries, support better decision-making, and provide practitioners and courts with confidence in a structured educational process.

How the program works

Turning Point consists of six core online modules, each taking approximately 45 minutes to complete over a 12-week access period, with reflective activities required before a Certificate of Completion is issued.

What it covers

Optional modules expand the learning experience across topics including children's transitions between households, FIFO parenting arrangements, parenting coordination, mediation, parenting plans, parallel parenting, electronic communication, online safety, and more.

Why it matters

The program is grounded in contemporary research on the impact of ongoing parental conflict on children, including not only direct conflict but also indirect exposure to hostile communication and criticism between parents.

Practical guidance for high-conflict parenting matters

Rather than promoting simplistic communication techniques, the program offers practical guidance for parents navigating entrenched conflict. This includes recognising when a response is unnecessary, communicating briefly and respectfully when required, maintaining a child-focused approach, and making effective use of dedicated co-parenting communication platforms to reduce escalation.

An important discussion also centred on parallel parenting. Rather than viewing parallel parenting as a failure of co-parenting, Turning Point presents it as an appropriate and often protective approach where conflict remains high or where concerns about coercive or controlling behaviour persist.

The webinar also explored the importance of helping parents recognise the influence of perception, assumptions and cognitive bias, encouraging participants to move away from diagnostic labels and instead focus on observable behaviours, emotional regulation, realistic self-care, and child-focused decision-making.

Expert contributors and participant support

Contributors to the broader learning experience include Dr Phil Watts, Professor Bruce Smyth, Vicki Pellow, and Anne-Marie Cade, with further content on neurodivergence currently in development.

A distinctive feature of Turning Point is the opportunity for participants to submit unlimited text, audio, or video questions throughout the 12-week program. These receive personalised video responses within 48 hours, providing practical guidance while maintaining the educational nature of the program.

Key takeaways

  • Turning Point is presented as an educational and coaching resource rather than therapeutic intervention.
  • Reflective exercises and participant questions are not retained as clinical records, helping reduce concerns regarding subpoena.
  • The webinar offered practitioners insight into a contemporary resource that complements legal, psychological, mediation, and parenting coordination practice.
  • Audience members were offered an unlimited 20% discount for all their clients until the end of 2026.
