Research project on parenting assessments

Research project on parenting assessments

There is no justice without access to justice

A research project on parenting assessments in family law court proceedings is being conducted by Rise Women’s Legal Centre, in Vancouver, Canada.

Rise Women’s Legal Centre, located in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, is conducting a research project on the topic of parenting assessments in family law court proceedings.

Parenting assessment reports in British Columbia are prepared pursuant to section 211 of the Family Law Act.

While not entirely identical, these reports are similar to single expert reports and reports by family consultants in Australia.

The purpose of the project is to understand the potential options for creating checks and balances in the ordering and production of the reports to ensure oversight of the reports, improve outcomes for children and caregivers, and safeguard the public.

As part of this project, we are interviewing key informants to gather the insights they have gained through their involvement in family law court proceedings.

Informants have the option of remaining anonymous and interviews are recorded for the purposes of being later transcribed.

If you would be interested in being interviewed by us and having your responses included in the study, please contact Gina here or Magal here A $40 CAD honorarium can be provided for your time.
